So while SRK marks the end of friendship with one 'Khan' colleague, he is smartly rekindling his friendship with the Bachchans. Smart move SRK.

A Wednesday is a thought provoking subject. Its message is straight and makes you experience some dreaded incidents. This weekend has been a showering of terrorism plotline and A Wednesday also belongs to this genre of movie. To heighten the interest level of the audience through terrorist plotline is a very difficult task especially for a debutante director but Neeraj Pandey has executed the plot remarkably well. He deserves full credit. The film sans song and dance but still able to grip the interest level of the audience.

A Wednesday has been planned, executed and depicted exceptionally well. The plot is the USP of the movie and the debutante director has headed the storyline in a right way. In spite of devoid of any grand affair and sizzling stars, the movie came out beatifically as experienced actors like Anupam Kher and Naseeruddin Shah has showed their potency of portraying any role with ease. No complaints from the acting department. The content is very powerful and through the promotion of the film is kept to the minimal, it outshines in every department.

The story speaks about one dark Wednesday when the Commissioner of Police, Prakash Rathod played dynamically by Anupam Kher received a crank call from an unidentified man. The blackmailer informed him about the bombs which has been planted in different parts of the city to destroy the life and property of the people. In return the anonymous person demanded release of the four most wanted militants who were responsible for much havoc throughout. At first, the commissioner thought the call to be some hoax but when he unplanted bomb in the police station right opposite his police headquarters, he took the call seriously. Prakash has got only few hours to take action and helped in his endeavor was his colleagues played by Aamir Bashir and Jimmy Shergill. Prakash even hired a hacker to trace the call as well as the caller.

The story takes a U turn when the anonymous caller identified as Naseeruddin Shah. He executed everything from the terrace of an under construction building. The disclosure of his identification is the climax of the movie and touted to be a breakthrough. As the plot unfolds, it grips your interest.

Speaking about the performances, every character is first rate. To comment on the acting capability of the top-notch actors like Naseeruddin Shah and Anupam Kher will be just injustice. They are an experienced actor and again showed their acting prowess. While watching them portraying their character, you will feel that no other actor can be best suited on that particular role. Jimmy Sheirgill has enacted his role well. Aamir Bashir is up to the mark. Deepal Shaw plays her part with poise. Chetan Pandit, as the Chief Minister, is effectual. Kali Prasad Mukherjee plays perfectly the role of a powerful terrorist. Fuwad Khan’s cinematography is creditable, looks like genuine plot.

In a nutshell, A Wednesday is not a commercial film and may not lure the entertainer seeker. But the film is worth watching and if you have missed the film this weekend then you should surely need to watch it next weekend because the film deserves to be watched and credited.

Hijack

In the past, many films have been made on terrorism and terrorists. Some sink while some floated. Terrorist is a common concept but many filmmakers find it a potboiler issue to capture in celluloid. Films based on terrorism interests a particular genre of filmmakers and joining the bandwagon is debutante director Kunal Shivdasani. Kunal in his very first attempt has handled this bold subject of hijacking which interest only a particular section of people. Hijack traversed the same path as Kuku Kohli’s Yeh Dil Aashiqana and Rohit Shetty’s Zameen.

The real life incidence of hijacking IC-814 from Katmandu airport has shooked the entire nation years back and most of the time makers lift up the issue to rewind the black day. Kunal’s Hijack also deals with the life risk of the passenger and release of a deadly terrorist. The story proceeds well but lost interest gradually as song and dance disrupts the flow of the film. Shiney Ahuja’s heroic deeds seemed quite unnatural and indigestible. The film caters interest at the first half but in the second half, you need to find ways to continue the film to the end.

Hijack tells the story of a ground maintenance officer at Chandigarh Airport who with full force rescued the life of the people and his own daughter who was captured by the terrorist. Vikram (Shiney Ahuja) is a brave officer; his daughter means a lot to him, she is his world. His social life is limited to only one friend by the name Rajeev, who is the Security Chief of the same airport. Life was moving smoothly as one unfortunate day the flight in which his daughter was traveling from Delhi to Amritsar was hijacked.

A group of five terrorists boarded the flight and took total control over the life and death of the passengers. They threatened and tortured the passengers and feared them out of their life if their demand did not get fulfilled. They wanted the release of their terrorist friend Maqsood [K.K. Raina], who was in the captivity of the Indian police. The aircraft landed in Chandigarh for refueling. Vikram in order to save her daughter and other passengers managed to get entry into the aircraft with the help of the airhostess Saira [Esha Deol]. Vikram and Saira somehow managed to save the life of the passengers. And here we will get to see some stunning action from Shiney Ahuja which is hard to believe.

The film concludes well but loose interest in the middle. Some sequences are deviated from the normal. Kunal tried to make an action thriller but failed to grip the audience. The story is bold, idea is noble and concept is lively but unfortunately meets a bad consequence.

Speaking about the performances, Shiney Ahuja fits to the role perfectly and he enacted his part well. Esha Deol has small role to enact but she is ok. K.K Raina did a fair job. Mushtaq Kak is top-notch. Kaveri Jha looks beautiful. Justin-Uday's music is nothing exceptional. It will not have an everlasting effect. Jehangir Chowdhary's cinematography is top-rate. Allan Amin's stunt is commendable. Bijon Dasgupta's artistic potential is appreciable.

On the whole, the concept of Hijack deserves credit but it lacks in synchronization. It is a film that will not have a good collection at the box-office but Shiney’s female following fan will definitely have a fabulous weekend as after a short gap, he has again makes his appearance on the silver screen.

'Welcome to Sajjanpur' Movie Report

Welcome to Sajjanpur is a story of small village where letters are only mode of communication. Director Shyam Benegal chooses to touch upon rural India's topical issues such as widow remarriage, caste politics and superstition in this film. But after a point he establishes just too many sub-plots in a case of biting off more than he can chew.

Welcome to Sajjanpur gives you a ride to your village life. For some, it will bring back life spent in villages during summer vacations and for others, memories of a life they have left behind for the proverbial search of a pot of gold in the city.

Mahadev [Shreyas Talpade] is one of the few educated young men in Sajjanpur. His ambition is to be a novelist, but finds it easier to make a living by writing and reading letters sitting next to the post office. His ability to write persuasive letters makes him popular with the largely non-literate population of the town. He writes some interestingly witty, some intensely passionate letters to help people achieve their results. In effect, the villagers throng to him because they feel he has some magic in his pen.

Aware of this power, he soon uses his talent to manipulate people with amusing and sometimes not such amusing results which he later realizes is wrong. But when Kamala (Amrita Rao), his school friend and childhood sweetheart, comes to him to write a letter to her husband who has been in Mumbai for the last four years, Mahadev sees his opportunity of spending life with Kamala. He lets his imagination go wild and mixes his reasoning with Kamala's utterings in the letters he writes to Bansi, her husband.

He almost manages to convince Kamala that her husband does not love her, and they come inches close to forging a lifelong bond. Then comes the letter, which explains the truth about Bansi. Mahadev is a shattered man and he realizes that what he was trying to tell Kamala was wrong; build her up against her husband who had left her with his mother. He now decides to make amends and sets out in search of Bansi in Mumbai. This is the central story of Welcome to Sajjanpur.

On the acting front, Shreyas Talpade is just superb. He is the life of the film. Amrita is a revelation. Her body language, her innocence and her angst are just flawless. Ila Arun is funny. Rajeshwari and Ravi Jhankal are delightful.

On the whole, the film is totally based on the shoulders of Shreyas Talpade. This movie really has potential to stay at box-office and will possibly do good business.

Synopsis

Golmaal Returns

A married man has to invent a lie for his suspicious wife to cover up the truth of a night he spent out. As the suspicious wife inspects into the matter, the husband has to invent new lies to cover up the old ones.

That’s what ‘Golmaal Returns’ promises – entertainment unadulterated.

The movie stars Ajay Devgan , Kareena Kapoor , Arshad Warsi , Amrita Arora , Celina Jaitley , Tusshar Kapoor , Shreyas Talpade and Anjana Sukhani .

The film is the much-awaited follow-up of the uproariously comic smash-hit Golmaal .

Gopal (Ajay Devgan) lives with his wife Ekta (Kareena Kapoor) who is fascinated by the saas bahu serials on television. She sees the world through the blinders of these cheesy soap operas.

Gopal’s sister Esha (Amrita Arora) has a boyfriend whom Gopal doesn’t like.

And who can forget Gopal’s dumb brother-in-law Lucky (Tusshar Kapoor) who speaks in a language that sounds like double entendres.

The story of ‘Golmaal Returns’ is set rolling when Gopal gets stuck in a yacht after saving an attractive woman Meera (Celina Jaitley) from some goons.

Both end up spending the night on the yacht and when he comes home the next day, his painfully suspicious wife Ekta smells fish.

Gopal knows it’s going to be hard to quell her suspicion so he concocts a cock-and-bull story about having stayed the night with a fictitious friend called Anthony Gonsalves.

Ekta refuses to buy his yarn and writes to Anthony (on a fictitious address given to her by Gopal) asking him to visit her.

Gopal convinces his junior at work, Laxman (Shreyas Talpade) to pretend to be Anthony. Everything goes according to plan till the address to which Ekta had written to Anthony turns out to be real!

If that isn’t complication enough for Gopal, a dead body is discovered at the location where he had saved Meera.

The Investigating Officer, Madhav (Arshad Warsi), who is Esha’s boyfriend and cannot stand the sight of Gopal, learns that the latter had been missing from home that eventful night and begins checking on him.

Madhav’s investigation results in hilarious chaos and tricky situations where a new lie must be invented at every instance to conceal the previous lie!

The misadventures of the seven characters result in a non-stop joyride, evoking laughter and culminating in a sweet but surprising climax to what promises to be the biggest comedy of 2008.

‘Golmaal Returns’ is directed by Rohit Shetty. The film is produced by Shree Ashta Vinayak Cinevision.

World’s most beautiful woman Aishwarya Rai Bachchan dazzled in black, sporting her ever so contagious smile and clinging on to hubby and the star of the flick, Abhishek.

‘Drona’ features Abhishek Bachchan in a super-hero character and the movie could be his second solo hit after the 2007 release ‘Guru’. Alongside Abhishek, the movie features Priyanka Chopra as Drona’s love bird and bodyguard, Sonia; Kay Kay Menon in a devilish role of Riz Raizada and Jaya Bachchan as Queen Jayati, the mother of ‘Drona’.

Talking to Spicezee Abhishek said, “ ‘Drona’ is no super hero movie, you have to watch it to like it. And yes I am very happy my entire family is here, Ash is here, and a lot of my friends are here too. So, just wishing that ‘Drona’ does well with the audiences.”

The Hollywood History Museum is housed in the venerable Max Factor Building, where the wizard of movie make-up worked his magic on stars since 1935. The lobby, basically unchanged from those golden days, is a polished Art Deco gem - a white & rose-colored oasis of lavish marble, crystal chandeliers, pastel hues, antique furniture, and potted palms. On the ground floor, you’ll find many of the same displays that used to make up the old Max Factor Museum (before it closed in 1996). But now that is only the beginning. The new museum is considerably larger than it might appear at first glance. It features four floors of exhibits (two floors above the lobby and a basement below), offering a good 38,000 square feet of exhibit space. To put that in perspective, it is seven times the size of the nearby Guinness World of Record Museum (5,200 square feet), almost four times the size of the neighboring Ripley’s Believe It Or Not museum (10,000 square feet), and five times larger than the Warner Bros Museum (at 7,000 square feet). Yet that still isn’t really room enough to do justice to the thousands of items on exhibit here. And the size pales by comparison to the Autry Museum’s 148,000 square feet, or the massive Petersen Automotive Museum’s 300,000.

After paying your admission at the desk in the lobby, just inside the front doors, you’ll be told to take the stairs up to the third floor and work your way down. It’s a self-guided tour, so you can spend as long as you like admiring any exhibit. Each of the floors is different. The ground floor is made up of the gorgeous Max Factor rooms and a few large-scale exhibits from recent science-fiction films. The second floor is devoted almost exclusively to costumes by the stars in famous films. The third floor is a hodgepodge of Hollywood memorabilia, ranging from the earliest Technicolor film ever shot, to a Roman bed from "Gladiator".

The album altogether possesses 19 tracks (9 original and 10 remix version) comes in two CDs. We can say that it is a great offering from Himesh who has a huge fan following all over.

With the festive season approaching, the album of Karzzz is surely to be a big bonanza which has the savor to set the dance floor on fire. Hip-hop, sufi, ghazal, western, Indian and traditional, all sorts of music masala has been embedded on the album and the result turned our to be exceptional fruitful. Like Aashiq Banaya Aapne , Aksar, Tom Dick & Harry, Ahista Ahista, the music of Karzzz will also rock and will be played and crooned by the music lovers for days to come. This time Himesh does not give any room of complaint to the audience.

The album opens with Lut Jaaon Lut Jaaon by Himesh and joining him at the later part is Harshdeep. The song can be touted as the title track due to the repetitive use of the work ‘Karz’. While going through the lyrics, one can easily feel the burning revenge. On listening once, you will feel to play and heard repeated number of times. The song is not hyper and runs very smoothly. As it plays, we will experience what the protagonist is going through. It has some sufi flavor incarnated with the track. Sameer’s lyric is praiseworthy. While listening, the entire picture will come into forefront.

Om Shanti Om of Rishi Kapoor’s Karz has intoxicated the audience of 80’s and it was the most popular and happening song of that period and Himesh has incorporated all those masalas and flavor in Hari Om Hari Om. It has got regional smell and can be regarded as one of the finest remixes heard in recent times by Akbar Sami. It is the only song in the album which has got two versions - Indian Mix and an Electro Mix. Special care has been taken in making the song as it is regarded the benchmark.

Tandoori Nights is a disco number. On listening, you will feel like tapping your feet. When Sunidhi Chauhan opens the album with her jazzy voice, she will set the dance floor on fire. Sunidhi’s voice is best suited for Urmila Matondkar and the song is sure to reach the chartbuster. It is overloaded with electrifying music which will boost up the dull mood. This song definitely deserves a rave reviews.

Dhoom Tere Ishq Ki is a love song and has a pure Indian feeling with traditional Indian instruments. Himesh has been able to revive the Dard-e-Dil (Karz) ecstasy and the song is purely serene. It has all the positivity to make to the hit list. The song is amazing. It is delightful to hear and is a treat for the ears.

Sisak Sisak Ke has an electrifying impact. It is a disco number and total rap. Himesh’s voice purely matches with the lyrics penned by Sameer. As it is a club number, all westernized instrument are incorporated in it. One can add to their disco favorite.

Masha Allah track sounds similar to Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Saawariya last year. The song is amazingly melodious and a perfect dance number. In Himesh’s language, we can say it is mind-blowing.

With Ek Haseena Thi, Himesh steps into Kishore Kumar’s shoes. Much care has been taken in composing this super hit song as it is yesteryears musical hit. He has made all effort to keep the intensity flowing throughout. Shreya Ghosal and Himesh Reshammiya’s combination of voice sounds magic and the song has score higher.

In gist, the music of Karzzz is a smash hit and it will add to the chartbusters. The music will have great contribution in making the film a blockbuster. Himesh rocks back with big bang and the album is a full package of melody, entertainment and thrill. Karzzz album deserves full marks.

In Bollywood, many films are based on music but Rock On is a compilation of friendship and rock band.

Band is a new as well as a flourishing concept. Farhan Akhtar has captures this unique concept to showcase his acting talent. He ruled throughout the film. The concept and the characterization is not deviated from the normal. You will able to relate with most of the incidents and characters. Freindship and barrier in the relationship is not a new concept but the way it has been captured and synchronized is praiseworthy.

The moment the film unfolds, it grabs all your attention. The film again revives the true meaning of friendship and shows that this sacred relationship is unaffected by time and distance. Music unites the fours gems, music separates them and again the same music re-unites them.

The story is about a band named Magik formed by four close buddies Aditya (Farhan Akhtar), a lead vocalist, Joe (Arjun Rampal), guitarist, Rob (Luke Kenny) drummer and KD (Purab Kohli), keyboardist. This group of four music maestros formed a music band named Magik.

The film takes you to the flashback where life was shown green and grand. Music echoed all around and pain and sufferings were miles away. Suddenly transition occurred and four friends moved in four different directions. Aditya married to Shakshi (Prachi Desai) and Joe to his longtime girlfriend Debbie played by debutante Shahana Goswami. In spite of knowing each other for several years, they hold differences in opinion. They do not find solace in each other’s company.

With Shakshi’s endeavor, the four souls that dance to the same tune of music re-unite a long hiatus. Life took a new birth. Although the film drags too longer at times, it does not get into your nerves. It will absorb your interest and make you feel worth watching.

The film excels in the acting department. Everyone is top-notch, especially Farhan Akhtar, Arjun Rampal and Shahana Goswami. Luke Kenny and Purab Kohli are equally good. The bahu of Indian television Prachi Desai brings freshness to the screen. She gets a challenging role to show off her acting capability and to a great extent, she succeeds. Cinematography is first rate. Music by Ehsaan-Loy-Shankar scores high. Lyrics by Javed Akhtar are great fun. Director Aditya Kapoor showed his competence.

In a nutshell, Rock On will definitely rock at the box office and will pull huge crowd at the multiplexes. It will highly appeal the youth of today who believes in the institution of friendship.

Prerna is a beautiful lady in her mid 30’s who is coming to terms with her husband’s accidental suicide, knows that life ahead will not be easy if she does not have her husband’s insurance money coming. Her biggest hurdle is to prove that her husband was murdered – to claim his insurance money.

Prerna is ready to bend the law and is determined to get the insurance money. Rafik powder, a goon comes to her rescue, and promise to do the job for 10% of the large insurance sum of 2 crores. Prerna strikes a deal with Rafik and pays him half the money by securing a loan, hoping the job will be done.

A year passes by. Anil and Shilpa are doing the rounds of family court trying to get a divorce. Ryan can’t believe Nancy has dumped him and is nursing his broken heart and a shattered ego. Prerna has been deceived by Rafik and now does not know what to do as she has made large claims of producing the killer of her husband in court.

Their lives are affected by one common problem, that of, accumulated debts which they are unable to pay. Sometimes problems find their own solutions and such a solution in their despaired, hysterical lives, is Sattar.

Early starter Sattar, a small time goon on the streets of Mumbai, slowly graduated to running an ethically unethical profession of debt retrievals. “Good Luck Recovery” is satirically India’s No.1 money-recovering agency due to lack of rivals in the profession.

Still in his late thirties, running a monopoly business, Sattar has it all – success, money, power – until recently when he starts nursing the mind for politics, which for him is the highest berth to reach.

Sattar comes in contact with Anil, Prerna and Ryan who have defaulted on their EMI’s and are now facing their biggest crises. Sattar's fresh inclination and his falling in love offers a few solutions, which help them move ahead in life and lets him recover the dues.

With his wit, experience and new desire he changes few lives including his own.

EMI is written and directed by Saurabh Kadra. It has music by Chirantan Bhatt. The film is set to release on October 29.
